CCAOI is selected for the Best Practice and Editors Choice by Leading US based NGO
Digital Literacy.org, an all-volunteer NGO from U.S.A. has selected CCAOI for the Best Practice and Editors Choice. Digital Literacy.org which is a part of Net Literacy promotes best practices of various organizations, across the world for increasing digital literacy and digital inclusion. Net Literacy was selected by the European Union Study on Digital Inclusion as one of the 91 most promising good practice initiatives based upon an investigation of 32 countries The organization is supported by a number of prominent organizations of the web world like the International Internet Industry Association, International ISP Association, as well as Internet Service Providers of many countries, governmental organizations, and other NGOs.

CCAOI has been playing an active role of working to promote Internet access to the people of India, especially through the Public Internet Access Providers (PIA’s) 180,000 cyber cafes and 75,000 CSC’s located across the country. Inspired by this global recognition of its activities, CCAOI has been working to improve digital literacy in India with renewed motivation.

This international recognition is the new feather in its cap of glory. “The attempts of the association has always been towards building a Literate and Internet Savvy Bharat, while promoting Safety and Security and empowering the citizens thereby supporting our bit in Bharat Nirman,” says Amrita Choudhury, Director CCAOI. The association is focusing to develop the ecosystem of internet in India. It is focusing on e-Education, promoting an environment where content providers, internet service providers can reach their end customers. Initiatives have also been taken for safe and secure internet access. Besides, CCAOI is providing a platform for the eGovernance and other government initiative as a responsible organization.

CCAOI has ambitious plans to take digital literacy to each citizen in their own language. It has already touched the lives of more than 6000 families in India through the “Project Gyan”, a digital literacy program which was run along with National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI). It’s a significant initiative by CCAOI to offer computer education in India through the vernacular languages. The association will also take initiative to provide them with other skill building and professional courses through the cybercafés spread across the nation.
